Aval with Jaggery - The name says it all...there is nothing fancy about this recipe just called by different names aval jaggery/sweet poha/aval nanachathu etc. Poha is very versatile and quick to make, check for more poha recipes here. You can make this for a quick neiveidhyam on fridays.

Poha Jaggery Recipe- Ingredients

Aval(Poha) - 1 cup(preferably thick poha)
Jaggery - 3/4 cup
Ghee - 2 tsp
Cardamom powder - 1/4 tsp
Coconut - 2 tbsp
Cashews - 5 broken


  1. Soak jaggery in warm water(till immersing level) , crush it well. Then heat it up until it is slightly thick (no string consistency needs to be checked) It should be of idli batter consistency.Strain and keep aside.

  2. Roast the broken cashews in ghee till golden brown and set aside.Rince poha well then soak it in water for 2-3mins till it becomes soft. Add poha to the jaggery syrup in  a pan.

  3. Mix well until its coated evenly.Add grated coconut and cardamom powder,ghee and give a quick mix.Add roasted cashews and serve.3-Poha(Aval) Jaggery Recipe
Serve hot / warm with a dollop of ghee...yumm!!
